Integration
Understanding Austria and its democratic, liberal social order – as a basis for working well together.
Moving into a different society is a challenge for anyone. I offer talks and workshops that are tailored to the audience and that support working well together.
Individual elements can also be built directly into your language training.
What it covers
Understanding Austrian society
Where language barriers exist and contact with Austrians is limited, knowledge about Austrian society matters a great deal.
It makes it possible to compare one's own culture with the new one. With that knowledge it becomes easier to integrate at work and to be accepted in the workplace.
Getting to know patterns of behaviour, norms and values
Working life involves different patterns of behaviour, depending on the field.
A live-in carer frequently encounters the behaviour of very old people whose personalities were shaped half a century ago. Electricians working mainly in private households, by contrast, meet the full diversity of the population.
Understanding the political system
People with a migration background should know which laws Austrian society and employers have to follow.
That includes the basic rights and obligations of employees.
Going deeper in workshops
Knowledge settles through repetition and, where possible, through continued engagement with the material.

Austrian society and its legal system
Talks that convey politically neutral basic knowledge, tailored to the audience. Participants also receive their materials in their first languages, as far as translation tools allow.
- The Austrian legal system: federal constitution, key laws and regulations, fundamental rights and freedoms, the European Union.
- How Austrian society works: norms and values.
- Prejudice and stereotypes: how different cultural habits can grow into shared conduct at work.

Integration workshops
These workshops raise awareness and help participants deepen and apply what the talks covered.
- Awareness and acceptance of difference, strengthening the workplace community.
- Exchange workshop on norms and values: integrating without losing yourself – following the corresponding talk.
- A closer look at the laws and regulations that matter for your organisation.
